How we fight hunger in Austin

Each year, potters, restaurants, and musicians across Central Texas work together to put on the Austin Empty Bowl event held at the Central Texas Food Bank.

All of the money we raise at the event goes to the Central Texas Food Bank and Meals On Wheels.

We are an all volunteer organization!

Central Texas Food Bank, Kids Cafe

Kids Cafe, an official program of Feeding America, aims to alleviate child hunger in America by providing nutritious meals at times when other resources might not be available, such as after school. Central Texas Food Bank partners with organizations with existing after-school programs in safe, supervised settings where children can go to receive a free meal and get homework assistance, participate in physical activities and other educational or enrichment activities.

Kids Cafe is offered by food banks nationwide at more than 2,600 locations across the country. The Central Texas Food Bank operates 49 Kids Cafes in Central Texas and the program served more than 83,000 meals in the 2022-2023 school year.

Meals On Wheels Central Texas

Meals on Wheels Central Texas provides hot, nutritious lunchtime meals to home-bound older adults and persons with disabilities. Additionally, they offer many other programs designed to keep people healthy and living in their own homes.  Meals on Wheels Central Texas deeply appreciates Austin Empty Bowl Project’s continued support of our mission to nourish and enrich the lives of the Central Texans we are honored to serve!
